Tidy Butterfly Turns 4: A Journey of Clearing Space, Creating Peace, and What Comes Next

Four years ago, Tidy Butterfly started as something deeply personal.
Not a business plan. Not a perfectly mapped-out strategy. Just a real, human moment of realizing that life and home can feel overwhelming when there’s too much “stuff” and not enough support.
In 2018, during a season of loss, transition, and change, I began my own decluttering journey. What started as a way to cope slowly turned into something bigger. Something meaningful. Something that would eventually help women across Des Moines and surrounding communities breathe easier in their own homes.
And now… here we are.
Tidy Butterfly is turning 4 on April 1st.
From Overwhelmed to Empowered
Over the past four years, I’ve walked into hundreds of homes—and every single one tells a story.
Not just of clutter, but of life.
Homes filled with decades of memories
Closets packed with “someday” items
Spaces that once served a purpose but no longer fit this season
And one thing I hear again and again is this:
“I didn’t even know where to start.”
That’s where Tidy Butterfly comes in.
Because this work has never been about perfection. It’s about progress. It’s about creating space for the life you’re living now, not the one from 10 years ago.
One client shared how, after living in her home for over 20 years, she finally felt ready to tackle everything from her kitchen to the “never-ending closet under the stairs.” What made the difference wasn’t just the organizing—it was having someone calm, supportive, and completely non-judgmental by her side.
And that’s the heart of what I do.

More Than Organizing—It’s Emotional Work
Decluttering isn’t just about stuff.
It’s about:
Letting go of the past
Making decisions you’ve avoided
Creating space for what’s next
That’s why so many clients tell me they didn’t just gain an organized home—they gained clarity, confidence, and peace.
One client described the experience as having “a friend over helping you clean, purge, and organize in such a natural and effective process.”
Another shared that after years of feeling stuck, organizing their space helped them feel like themselves again.
That’s the real transformation.
Not the bins. Not the labels.
It’s how your home feels when the clutter is gone.

The Little Things That Make a Big Difference
Over the years, I’ve learned that it’s not about complicated systems or Pinterest-perfect spaces.
It’s about practical, sustainable changes.
Things like:
Creating simple systems that actually fit your lifestyle
Using what you already have instead of buying more
Removing donations right away so they don’t creep back in
Breaking projects into manageable sessions so you don’t burn out
Clients often tell me how much they appreciate that this process feels doable and even enjoyable.
One review said it best:
“She streamlines the process and makes everything feel easy and manageable. Worth every penny.”
And honestly? That’s always the goal.
Real Results, Real Homes, Real Life
Over four years, Tidy Butterfly has helped with:
Downsizing from family homes to apartments
Preparing homes before major life events or surgeries
Tackling years of accumulated clutter
Organizing offices, supply rooms, and everyday spaces
Helping empty nesters reclaim their homes
One family shared they didn’t know how they would have managed a move without the support and guidance they received.
Another client said their home now feels calmer, cleaner, and more organized and that they’ve let go of the anxiety that came with too much stuff.
That’s what four years of this work looks like.
Not just organized homes.
Changed lives.

Celebrating 4 Years (The Sweet Way)
And because this journey has been built on community, connection, and so many incredible clients… it only feels right to celebrate together.
Here’s what’s happening:

We’re keeping it simple (just like I like organizing):
$4 scoops
Good conversation
A moment to pause and celebrate how far you’ve come
Because this isn’t just my milestone.
It’s yours too.
Every drawer you’ve cleared.
Every closet you’ve tackled.
Every step you’ve taken toward a lighter, calmer home.
Looking Ahead: What’s Next for Tidy Butterfly
If the last four years have taught me anything, it’s this:
People don’t need more stuff. They need more support.
As Tidy Butterfly grows, my focus remains the same:
Helping more women in Des Moines and surrounding areas simplify their homes
Supporting empty nesters through life transitions
Creating systems that last—not just quick fixes
Continuing to show up with zero judgment and a whole lot of encouragement
Because your home should feel like a deep breath.
Not a to-do list.
Thank You for Being Part of This Journey
Whether you’ve worked with me, referred a friend, followed along online, or are just starting to think about decluttering…
Thank you.
Truly.
Tidy Butterfly exists because of this community and I don’t take that lightly.
Here’s to four years of clearing space. And to everything that comes next.
Ready to make space for your next chapter?
Let’s do it together.
